Having first been assigned together at the new forward battery one, gun station, of the Alice Paul, it had taken the whole of about two entire seconds worth of time, seated side by side on their first shift, for Zebby and Shadrack to decisively determine without an inkling of ambiguity, that they utterly hated each other. The fact that the first words out of Shad’s mouth had arrogantly been, “I’m pretty sure by the end of this shift I’ll have this gun crew hammered into something this fleet can actually be proud of. Come to think of it, I should probably start with you, Emerson.”, had been more then enough to grind Zebby’s gears right out of the gate. It had not escape Zebby for a single moment, that at the time both he and Shad were quite possibly the lowest ranking E-1’s onboard, and that it had more then likely been for that reason alone that Shad had mocked his comment in away that no one outside of Zebby’s person was able to hear. Needless to say, he was not the least bit impressed with Shad at first glance, and as the years rolled on, and Shad began to accelerate up the rank bar ladder in a far more aggressive fashion then he, Zebby began to realize the underlined truth that while considerably irritating, arrogance could apparently get you somewhere, whether you had your head squarely secured strait up your ass or not.
By the end of the first year together aboard the Alice Paul, both Zebby and Shadrack had more then proven themselves worthy of advancement, having been awarded numerous benny’s including the rank of gun chief, for their performance and accuracy in battle. In the first year alone, the escalating conflict over particular solar bodies in both the Kuiper, and Asteroid belt’s, had the Alice Paul and her crew working double duty, participating in no less then sixty official engagements, and battery one had been credited for at least one capital vessel kill in every single one of the confrontations, setting not only a new record for a ship of her class, but a new standard for the entire Alliance fleet as a whole.
While both Zebby and Shad openly confessed to a deep disliking of each other, and secretly desired that given the choice opportunity to flush one another out of the nearest unattended airlock, they would have done so without hesitation, when war came a knocken, they were all business, and that seemed to only aid in fueling not only their hatred towards each other, but their future together. Taking full note of their mutual abilities, the Alice Paul’s S.O. had graciously determined that Zebby and Shadrack made the perfect match, and from there on they had been moved through the ranks side by side as such, with Zebby lagging just a few bars on his chest shy of Shad‘s. Or so it had been until that fateful day now branded into Zebby’s mind, when the Alice Paul had fatefully stumbled into a hornets nest of a trap, laid just inside of the unpredictable Golean Mons anomaly. It had been a day he and only a hand full of other survivors would not soon forget.
“Golean Mons” Zebby uttered aloud, having for a moment completely forgotten about the slowly churning Index board, or the anticipated Tram car for that matter. It had been an event he’d not pondered on for a lengthy number of years, burying it as deeply away as he could, despite the haunting residual side effects the event had left imbedded in his psyche. Now for reasons he could not for the life of himself recollect, a flood gate had been opened, and he was thinking back on it. Thinking back on his first post aboard the Alice Paul, her crew, her remarkable history, her estranged ending, and the Captain who had lead them there. The Captain he had so highly regarded as a genuine role model, confidant, and friend. The Captain he’d fallowed into fire, and had not ever truly returned from. The Captain he’d not spoken to since.
Feeling himself shrink, his eye’s slowly fell towards the cold dull grungy forged alloy flooring of the Tram stop’s tarmac, as he took in a deep breath.
“Con, unable to acquisition signal.” Came a dismally concerned voice from the past. “Friend or foe signature is non responsive.”
“Who is at our port flank?” Came another voice. “Is it the Emma Edmond?”
“Who is it?” Snapped the second voice again.
“Unknown! The board is lit up like a Christmas tree, but it could be anything out there.”
“Have we been lit up?”
“I can’t…I can’t tell, sir. I’m not even certain there is another vessel out there.”
Then came the words, Zebby had allowed to burrow into his mind like a rabid tick, on holiday in the hind quarters of an elephant, there to stay as though they were some old continent companion, free to harass him to his dying day. Still as fresh as the moment they had been spoken, Zebby spoke them openly to himself, as he delved deeper into the living nightmare he had experienced.
“Alright. Helm, come hard to port sixty degrees, ten degrees down on the bow plane. Adjust

Titan Hobo superseding lot's of tin

Titan Hobo superseding lot's of tin

as you can see, the titan Hobo stove kit with the Trangia inserted, is superseding all the other items and cooking devices usually found in a light weight travel kit.

the heavy MagicFlame Hobo is no longer needed (which is to wide for the SnowPeak 900 pot anyway), the aluminium windscreen no longer rubbing black alu-dust to your pots and the tiny stove stand, made out of many parts which get easily lost, don't need to be carried either. The best bet... no more sharp edged parts any more in the pack.

Solution: SnowPeak titanium Hobo multi stove.

well I noticed some funny discussions on some outdoor forum, about why using titanium and how this stove possibly would work...

I can assure you this stove work's pretty well and fast !
who ever knows anything about the behaviour of fire, will understand, that hot air draws upwards and in the same amount of fresh air needs to flow in as well to keep a constant heat. better known as the chimney effect. Like an tuned engine, the more air coming in, the faster the engine can breath out and burns fast, less air in and the fire or engine running slow, just pure physics, that's all.

So... this invention is based on simple physics, in the wild I want to cook and boil my meals fast and most effective. So I want a fast and hot fire to get my water for tea fast without much of a hassle.
the "chimney effect" is incredible fast and very hot, regarding it's simple air flow design, so that the wood burning down to white ashes, dust like powder only, just dropping out of the bigger holes at the bottom side, no need of any grill mesh inside to keep the fire of the ground for a better draft.

Because this stove getting very hot, other cheaper materials would suffer from damage like a aluminium cup would eventually melt down in long term use regarding the enormous heat.. or steel, well it would not melt but is heavy, will bend during the tension stress that comes from the heat, need endless time to cool down before you can even touch it, can not be packed away safely for a while after use to pack it away, titanium on the other hand... well read on..

now to the question why using titanium... well, it's light weight, non stick and cooling down instantly and don't transfers the heat very easily, at the end... well the thing fit's snug in to my cooking pots as well making a very small and light weight travel kit (the complete kit weights no more than 360g incl. the Trangia and all the two pots and the cup), additional it dose not relay on any expensive fuel to run or the need to carry the fuel either, wood and small sticks can be found every where, even dry rabbit or camel shit will do the job to burn and lighten a fire.

one word to the two pins that are used to hold the Trangia in position.. well simply to have a pre-set distance for the flames, spreading in a optimal manner and distance to the bottom of the pot.

I did use a MagicFlame HOBO stove before, but they are heavy, bend from the heat and dirty after a while of use, need extra storage and don't cool down very fast too.

well I hope I could do away with some of the speculations of why and how this is a good or bad design... in the end it just work's, that's all it matters.
some are mention the high cost of it... well it's just a big cup for 40-Euros, anything else, no sensible moving parts at all, compare to all the other solutions... just maintenance free, still the best bet..

From the Book: Benefits to People and Orgainizations that React in Real-Time

When you start a conversation, you are recognized as someone who is plugged into the marketplace of ideas
If you talk about an idea early, you naturally get more exposure because the threads of conversation stem from what you have said. If you’re late you get lost in the cacophony
With a new product, if you are first to market in a hot category, your initial momentum may give you a competitive advantage for many years
If you’re an early adopter on a social media platform, you build a larger following than those who join later
If you’re first to engage the market, people notice and your offering gains valuable attention
If you react early and connect with customers as their concerns arise, they see you as thoughtful and caring
